CHOOSING A FINANCIAL PLANNER

Deciding who to choose as your financial planner can be a daunting task. Your financial planning requirements need to be met by a planner who offers the appropriate services to help you achieve your goals.

Knowing where to look and how to find the right financial planner is the first step in the right direction to financial success. The services of a financial planning association can be very useful in finding the right financial planner for you. Two good places to start are the Financial Planning Association of Australia and the Association of Financial Advisers.

After making a list of potential planners, it’s important to ensure they can provide the advice you need by referring to the Financial Advisers Register.

The register is also a good way to quickly check that the planner is operating under a licence. If they’re not, they are breaking the law and you will have very little protection if things should go wrong.
